The weekend was good, in terms of nutrition and exercise.
Friday I got out of work early, so I hit up BSC Copley and did a great shoulder and chest workout. I also did 30 minutes of jogging on the treadmill which I haven't done in over 1.5 years.
I took Saturday off, then hit back BSC Fenway tonight, Sunday. I did an awesome and different leg workout, then did about 15 minutes of stairs. I would have liked to do more stairs, but my legs were exhausted.
But I added things like push-ups between floors and it really ramped up the blood flow. It felt awesome.
Jogging on the treadmill also felt awesome on Friday.
I've really been enjoying eating nutritious, clean foods. I also enjoy these new vegan sausages that I put on my salads, very tasty and VERY satisfying.
Goals for this week: Continue to eat clean, be careful with nuts and nut butters. And continue to hit the gym hard and try perhaps some new moves.

Today was a good day.
The pangs for sweets after lunch weren't as strong as they were yesterday.
I drank more water today, which was a goal of mine, and I also took some spinach from the salad bar in addition to tomatoes, for my mid-day meal.
And I came home and walked Lux for over an hour, it was gorgeous outside. We walked in some new areas of Brookline I hadn't been in, and I'm so glad I went that way. I'd like to explore new areas more frequently, that's my goal for us.
What worked today:
After my long walk with Lux, I had a nice salad with a Tofurky sausage and lettuce and Catalina dressing and some tomatoes. It wasn't TOO MUCH, so I wasn't so stuffed when I hit up the gym at 8:55 PM!
I did a killer biceps and shoulder workout!
Today was great!

Tuesday
Today was a good day. I listened to Robyn and did the pushups, sit-ups, and crunches in the morning before I showered, I think it got my blood flowing.
I was pretty much on track all day. I had the ants in my pants feeling around 2 PM, wanting something sweet, but I resisted. I had a few plain almonds, then at 4 PM I had my shake and some of the grape tomatoes I took off the salad bar during lunch.
I think tomorrow I'll take a separate container with maybe some shredded carrots and some spinach.
I'm trying something new. I am going to try an evening workout at Fenway BSC. It worked for me so long in college, there's no reason it can't work now. And I also feel as though since Lux is already snoozing by like 8:30, might as well be out getting a workout, and it's staying lighter later, so we took a nice walk with daylight!
Things that worked today: The tomatoes at my 4 PM snack. My dinner was the same thing I made yesterday, I had leftovers. The refried beans and sautéed onions and the tofurky sausage. It was soooo sastisfying.
I had that when I got home from work, around 6:45, gave Lux his food at that time too. It wasn't much food, I'd say 1 cup of refried beans, 1/4 cup of sautéed onions, and half of the Tofurky sausage. Probably 400 calories tops, but sooo filling, I only took part of it into the living room to eat it. That def worked.
What I'd like to do better tomorrow: Drink more water! I was a little low on water today, I think I started to feel it at 4:30.
On the way home from the gym I'm going to stop at the grocery store and get some veggies.

It's been a long time....
It's been a long time. The competition was 1.5 years ago, and I've been really struggling since. I just went crazy after dieting, and it never stopped.
I reached out to Robyn for help, and she suggested keeping a journal. I'm amenable to trying new things, because doing the status quo is not working.
Today went well. I started fresh on this Monday. I had pumpkin with cinnamon and a protein shake in the morning before I left the house. When I got to work I had a bit of a banana and some water.
Then I had my 2nd meal at 10 AM, and had protein shake, half a small banana, and some broccoli.
I made good choices at lunch. Instead of loading up with the carby messes that I've been doing recently, I made the A-line to the salad bar. Primarily lettuce, kidney beans, grape tomatoes, sunflower seeds, and then I got some grilled celery and red peppers on top of my salad to flavor it up a bit.
It was delicious, and so much more satisfying than eating everything in site and feeling bloated and huge after eating. I also took some broccoli for the afternoon and later in the day. I think tomorrow I'll take tomatoes for later, I really like tomatoes.
I was feeling antcy around 2 PM, I'm starting to do sugar and junk withdrawal, which I remember from when I first started dieting for the competition. I had half of a mazto and probably 20 almonds. Then around 4 PM I had more protein shake and more broccoli, which tied me over until after I got home from the gym.
The gym was intense. Legs and chest. It was hot and muggy in the gym, and I was wearing my long-sleeved t-shirt over my tank, because I'm not at my best right now in my mid-section (mid-life watch out!).
Came home, fed Lux. Then had some protein shake and more broccoli to tide me over for the hour walk with Lux.
Then after the walk, I sauteed an onion and added a torfurkey sausage, and then had it with a bit of refried beans. It was overall very tasty.
I'm exhausted. I'm excited for tomorrow!

Competition - Complete!
So I did it!
The day has come and gone, and I just can't believe it's over. I didn't place in figure or bikini, but I was really happy with the way I looked and presented myself on stage. I wouldn't do anything differently.
I have decided that going forward, I'm going to stick with bikini division, as opposed to figure.
That's me with a professional spray tan plus 12 layers of hand-applied bronzer.

Dear Lunch: You Suck
Ah, show week nutrition. Half the fat, none of the fun, and not nearly as much water.
My usual favorite meal, lunch, which usually is yummy lettuce, fried tofu, chili garlic sauce and my all-time favorite dressing, Red Wine, Vinegar and Oil by Kraft, has been replaced by romaine lettuce, tofu, and plain balsamic vinegar. Terrible. Just terrible.
I'm also tapering down my water intake, as the show is now 5 days away, so I'm going through the sensation of ants in my pants, the shakes, and probably what crack withdrawal feels like.
